He is appointed by the King, upon nomination by the Government after consultation with the General Council of the Judiciary. The Office of the Public Prosecutor is responsible for promoting the action of Justice in defence of the legitimate rights of the citizens and public interest protected by the law, either ex officio or at the request of the interested parties, and for ensuring the independence of the Courts, seeking to secure therein the social interest.
