Valencia obtained pre-autonomy status on March 17th, 1989. On July 10th, 1982, the Autonomy Statute came into force.

The Community of Valencia was set up as an Autonomous Community under Organic Law 5/1982 July 1st (B.O.E. 10-7-82).
