Murcia was granted a provisional autonomy regime on September 27th, 1978, having been set up as a single province Autonomous Community.
Albacete, the province which originally constitued the ancient Kingdom of Murcia, together with Murcia itself, was included in Castile- La Mancha.
The Autonomy Statute, passed in accordance with the procedure set out in Article 143 of the Constitution, came into force on June 19th, 1982.
