Brief History.

CEUTA: A Spanish city since the 15th century, Ceuta has outstanding monuments such as the rebuilt cathedral, from the 15th century, the Shrine of Nuestra Senora de Africa, the fortress of Monte Hacho, the Foso de San Felipe complex, the Church of San Francisco and that of Nuestra Senora next to the so-called Casa Grande, where Agustina de Aragon, the heroine of the War of Independence, 1808 (The Peninsular War), lived and died. Among other interesting monuments is the Llano Amarillo.

MELILLA: A Spanish city since the end of the 15th century (1497), when Pedro de Estopinan conquered it for the ducal house of Medina Sidonia. Some years later it passed to the Crown. The Old City, affectionately known as "El Pueblo", stands on a rocky promontory to the right of Tres Forcas Cape on the North African coast. Within its walled area there are notable monuments, such as the Church of the Purisima Concepcion and the Santiago Gate, on which may be seen the arms of the Emperor Carlos V. The Municipal Musem preserves valuable items from the various civilizations which has passed through the city and maps, banners and weapons of tis military history.
