The gaspipeline network is formed by four main axes:
This system of gas pipelines is complemented by the Vigo-La Coruna- Madrid section and the connection with France (Calahorra-Lacq stretch).
The gas pipeline system is supplied by the gas conversion plants in BVarcelona, Palos de la Frontera (Huelva) and Cartagena (Murcia), as well as from the deposits at Serralbo (Huesca) and Gaviota (Vizcaya). The deposits in the Guadalquivir valley will soon complement the former.
Pipeline transport reached the following figures for 1991: 6.8 million tons of oil; 13.6 of refined products and 4.5 of natural gas.
In the next few years the demand for the transport of gas will increase strongly, in concordance with the important infrastructural developments foreseen and the generalization of its consumption in serveral industries and above all in the majority of homes in Spanish cities.
In 1991, natural gas supplies increased 14% with respect to the year before, primarily owing to the increment in gas imported from Algeria and Libya.
