General information can primarily be obtained from Spanish embassies and from Spanish cultural institutions if they exist in the foreign country concerned.

The Ministry of Education and Science operates several departments whgich give students relevant information to foreign students: Servicio de Informacion for matters of recognition of periods of study. Finally, there are similar bodies in various forms at every institution of higher education: student secretariats (vicerrectorados de alumnos) and information offices for foreign students (unidades de informacion).
