Minister of Justice

Born in Madrid on 10th January 1954.
Married.
Graduate in Law from Madrid. In 1980 she embarked on a legal career and took up an appointment in Aguilar de la Frontera (Córdoba).
She belongs to the Professional Association of Magistrates.
She occupied a position in the District Court of Aranjuez (Madrid).
In 1988 she became a Magistrate. In 1988 she was named Judge-Magistrate of the Court of First Instance number 26 in Madrid.
Member of the General Council of Judicial Power since 6th November 1990, she was the first woman judge to belong to this body.
She has formed part of the Qualification commissions, has had relations with the Associations and the Commission of the CGPJ as the delegate for Madrid.
She was appointed Minister of Justice on 5th May 1996.

Licenciada en Derecho en Madrid. En 1980 ingresó en la carrera judicial, siendo destinada en Aguilar de la Frontera (Córdoba).
Pertenece a la Asociación Profesional de la Magistratura.
Ocupó plaza en el Juzgado de Distrito de Aranjuez (Madrid).
En 1986 ascendió a Magistrada. En 1988 fue nombrada Magistrada-Juez de primera instancia en el Juzgado número 26 de Madrid.
Vocal del Consejo General del Poder Judicial desde el 6 de noviembre de 1990, fue la primera mujer juez que accedió a este órgano.
Ha formado parte de las comisiones de Calificación, relaciones con las Asociaciones y Comisión delegada para Madrid del CGPJ.
Nombrada Ministra de Justicia el 5 de mayo de 1996.
