Fees are determined annually by the University Council and the governments of the Autonomous Communities with responsibility for higher education (Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia, Andalucia, Valencia, the Canary Islands and Navarre). The Ministry of Education and Science determine the fees for the remaining institutions of higher education.
Higher education institutions under the auspices of the Church determine their own fees.
The above refers to courses of study which lead to officially recognized degrees for the whole of the territory of Spain. For other degree programmes and degrees which are offered by an institution of hugher education within the scope of its autonomy, the tuition fees are determined by the relevant institution.
